Wireless Network

Overview

Learn how to connect to Coppin State University's wireless network using your CSU account or as a guest.

Also, learn how to connect your gaming device to the internet.

Connecting to the Wireless Network

Before you attempt to log into the wireless network you must:

  • Enable your wireless adapter 802.11x (a, b, g or n) on your computer/laptop and install the latest drivers (if necessary), if you have an external wireless adapter insert it into computer first.
  • Turn-off your pop-up blocker if attempting to access CSU-Guest wireless network.

Things To Remember

  • The CSU wireless access is available campus wide. If you have access problems anywhere on campus please complete the Wireless Help Form.
  • You must have your wireless card installed along with the latest drivers
  • The Division of Information Technology does not support personal PCs Laptops or PDAs, however will assist with issues related to wireless access
  • After 3 unsuccessful logins you will be locked out of the network and must wait 5 minutes before attempting to login again

iPhone

  1. Go to settings
  2. Go to Wi-Fi settings
  3. Click on “CSU-Wireless” network
  4. Enter your CSU username and password

Note: Instructions will vary based on the device

Android/Tablet/Chromebook

  1. Click "Settings" then select "Wireless & Networks" and "Wi-Fi settings".
  2. If Wi-Fi is not enabled, please enable it.
  3. Select "CSU-Wireless".
  4. For "EAP method" select "PEAP".
  5. For "Phase 2 authentication" select "MSCHAPV2".
  6. If you are using the Nougat (7) OS on your Android, set "CA Certificate" to "Use system certificates" and "Domain" to "coppin.edu".
  7. Enter your Identity as your username plus @student.coppin.edu, e.g. "[email protected] ".
  8. Some devices may have an "Anonymous identity" field. Leave this blank.
  9. Enter your EagleLINKS password.
  10. Click "Connect".
  11. Your device should show "Obtaining IP address from CSU-Wireless..." then shortly after "Connected to CSU-Wireless".

Google Chromebook: Make sure the Authentication Type is PEAP and set CA Certificate to “Do not check for certificate”

Important: Press "Cancel" to go back to the previous screen. Do NOT press "Forget" or you will need to enter all the configuration information again.

Your device should now connect automatically to the CSU-Wireless wireless network whenever it is in range.

Windows Computer

  • Go to settings
  • Go to Network and Internet settings
  • Go to Wi-Fi section
  • Click on “CSU-Wireless” network
  • Enter your CSU username and password

If Wi-Fi doesn't work after changing your password

Computer

  • Go to settings
  • Go to Network & Internet
  • Click on Wi-Fi
  • Click on Manage Known Networks
  • Click on the Wi-Fi you're trying to connect to
  • Click on forget

Phone

  • Go to settings
  • Go to Wi-Fi settings
  • Click on the Wi-Fi you're trying to connect to
  • Click on “Forget Network”

Note: If the student recently changed his/her Coppin Account (EagleLINKS) Password, you will have to Forget the old Wi-Fi password and then enter the new one.

To forget old Wi-Fi password

  1. Depending on the version of Android/iPhone, find the ‘Wi-Fi’ section under Settings.
  2. Click on the Wi-Fi network you want to forget, in this case click on CSU-Wireless.
  3. Then select Forget.
  4. Once you forget the network, you can sign into the Wi-Fi with the new password.

Connecting to Wireless as a Guest

  1. Campus guest will select and connect to wireless network named “CSU-Guest”. Click continue anyway if needed
  2. Next campus guest will launch their web browser and image #1 below will display.
  3. Guest will then need to register to obtain a guest username and password by clicking on “Need an account? Click Here”.
  4. Once guest click on “Need an account? Click Here” they will be directed to the guest registration page. Here guest will enter their name and valid email address then accepts terms of use and click register.
  5. Once guest clicks register, the Guest Registration Receipt will display. Click “Log In” to connect to wireless.

Connecting Your Gaming Device to Wifi

Below are instructions for connecting your game system to the Coppin wireless system.

  1. Find your system’s MAC address (Instructions below)
  2. Open a browser from a campus computer, and go to http://resnet.coppin.edu/guest/register.php
  3. Complete the online form
  4. Check the box accepting the terms of use.
  5. Click Register
  6. Once connected, you must MANUALLY add the Network SSID displayed on the screen. If you forget the SSID, it will be emailed to your Coppin State email account.

This account is only good for the semester. You will have to register the system again at the beginning of each semester.

This is for dorm residents only. This network is not available outside of the dorm areas. For other devices, use CSU-Wireless.

PlayStation 3

  1. From the Main Menu, select Settings.
  2. Scroll all the way to the bottom and select Network Settings
  3. Select Settings and Connection Status List.
  4. The MAC Address is displayed on the screen.
  5. Enter this 12-digit sequence into MAC Address Field on Website

Xbox 360

  1. Go to the System area of the Xbox Dashboard and select Network Settings
  2. Select Edit Settings
  3. From Additional Settings, select Advanced Settings
  4. At the bottom of this screen you’ll see a heading called wired MAC Address
  5. Enter this 12-digit sequence into MAC Address Field on Website

Wii

  1. On the main menu, select the Wii button on the lower left side
  2. Select Wii Settings
  3. Select the arrow on the right side of the screen
  4. Select Internet
  5. Select Console Information
  6. The MAC Address will then appear on the screen
  7. Enter this 12-digit sequence into MAC Address Field on Website

PSP

  1. Select Settings
  2. Select System Settings
  3. Select System Information
  4. Your MAC Address will be displayed
  5. Enter this 12-digit sequence into MAC Address Field on Website
